The contracts for dedicated LPG filling stations were awarded in May 2021 and have taken effect in phases between September 2021 and July 2023. Details of the contracts, including the information of the operators and contractual period, were listed in the EMSD's webpage. The ceiling price (P) of auto-LPG at dedicated LPG filling stations comprises two elements, namely LPG international price (A) and LPG operating price (B). The ceiling price is determined by the pricing formula: P = A + B. The upward and downward movements of LPG international price (A) are directly reflected on the pump prices at dedicated LPG filling stations. The LPG operating price (B) is adjusted on February 1 and June 1 annually according to the average movement of the Composite Consumer Price Index (C) and the Nominal Wage Index (N) yearly, so as to reflect the variation of the operating cost of dedicated LPG filling stations.
The LPG international prices (HK$/litre) used in the pricing formula, which are calculated from the monthly contract prices of LPG from Saudi Arabia, are as follows:
The LPG operating price (B) will be adjusted according to the year-on-year rates of change of the Composite Consumer Price Index (C) and the Nominal Wage Index (N) for the previous year. The past year-on-year rates of change of the Composite Consumer Price Indices (C) and the Nominal Wage Indices (N) are as follows:
The calculated LPG ceiling prices (HK$/litre) for respective dedicated LPG filling stations are as follows:
