進行工程時首重安全。機電工程署的機場工程分部團隊在機場管理局（機管局）舉辦的「工程及維修部承辦商安全運動」中，分別奪得「洞悉危害」比賽金獎和海報設計比賽亞軍兩個獎項。

今次安全運動得到機管局承辦商熱烈參與，已於2012年2月圓滿結束。透過這次運動，機管局運用極富創意的方式，推廣以周詳安全規劃及風險評估為本的安全文化。今次安全運動清楚有力地傳達了必須為高空工作人員配備適當工作平台的信息。

機場工程分部團隊也實施了多項有助加強工作間安全的措施，因而在2011/12年度取得零宗須呈報事故的佳績。這些措施包括建立團隊工作坊、早會、突擊巡查、跨部別審查、季度培訓及安全工作行為計劃等。

Safety is of paramount importance in engineering work. The EMSD team at the airport won two awards in the Technical Services Department Maintenance Contractor Safety Campaign organised by the Airport Authority (AA), taking gold in the “Spot the Hazard” competition and earning a first runner-up prize for its poster design.

AA contractors participated enthusiastically in the campaign, which concluded in February 2012. Through the campaign, AA has used a most innovative approach to promote a safety culture of thorough safety planning and risk assessment. The message that proper working platforms must be provided for those working at height came through loud and strong in this Campaign.

The airport team also achieved zero reportable incidents during 2011/12, thanks to various initiatives to reinforce workplace safety, including teambuilding workshops, morning briefings, surprise inspections, cross-divisional checks, quarterly refresher training and a work behaviour safety programme.
