電動車有利保護環境，但要鼓勵駕駛者改用電動車，完善的充電站網絡不可或缺。機電工程署於2012年1月受環境局委託，在港島、九龍及新界18個政府停車場安裝了500個標準充電站，以支援政府落實鼓勵市民轉用電動車的政策。

這批充電設施的啟用儀式已於2012年5月24日在中環天星碼頭多層停車場舉行，由財政司司長曾俊華先生擔任主禮嘉賓。充電站安裝計劃已於2012年年中完成，連同私營機構的充電設施，本港現時有達1,000個充電站為駕駛者提供服務。

with EV Charging Stations

Electric vehicles (EVs) are environmental friendly, but a charging network is required to be in place to support motorists to make the switch. Entrusted by the Environment Bureau in January 2012, EMSD installed 500 standard charging stations at 18 government car parks in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories to support the government’s initiative to encourage the uptaking of EVs.

A launching ceremony was held at the Star Ferry Multi-Storey Car Park on 24 May, 2012, with the Financial Secretary, Mr. John Tsang, as the officiating guest. Together with those installed by the private sector, the total number of charging stations has reached 1,000 in Hong Kong since the project completion in mid-2012.
