Washing Machines

Energy Labels of Washing Machines
1
Grade 1 products are most efficient (green) and Grade 5 products are least efficient (red).
2
Compare the annual energy consumption of different models and see how much you can save.
3
Washing capacity and water consumption.
Tips
Fully load the machine - A half load of clothes uses about the same amount of energy as a full load.

In Energy Label of Washing Machines, Grade 1 products are most efficient (in green colour). Grade 5 products are least efficient (in red colour).

The energy label also shows water consumption information for consumers' easy comparison.

The Voluntary Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS)

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) has implemented the Voluntary Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) as a water conservation initiative. The scheme covers washing machines and other common types of plumbing fixtures and water-consuming appliances. Products participating in WELS will incorporate a water efficiency label that will tell consumers the level of water consumption and water efficiency. Details about WELS can be found at WSD's website.
