OUTREACH PROGRAMME TO KINDERGARTENS
We have developed an outreach programme especially for kindergarten students. Two young ambassadors were appointed to lead the programme, conveying messages about the safe use of amusement rides, lifts and escalators to children in a lively fashion through story telling, games and demonstrations. The initial response to the programme was so overwhelming that it was extended to cover more than 250 kindergartens and reach 35,000 pupils over a nine-month period.

CARTOON CELEBRITY
Another innovative initiative we undertook this year to promote safety messages was the appointment of cartoon celebrity McMug1 as an icon character for publicity purposes. A series of posters and stickers featuring the popular character have been published and distributed to owners and operators of amusement rides, lifts and escalators.

SAFETY TALKS, SEMINARS AND EXHIBITIONS
We continued with a series of safety talks and seminars for trade and community organisations this year - with the support of various trade associations and the Home Affairs Department. Roving exhibitions were organised at popular shopping malls, featuring display panels and interactive computer games designed to demonstrate the safe use of household electrical and gas appliances, and the proper way to use lifts and escalators.
