The Route 8 Tsing Sha Control Area, partially opened in March 2008, has adopted the most advanced technologies in traffic control and surveillance. EMSTF provided professional services to the client including system design, testing and commissioning as well as management, operation and maintenance.

The project pioneered the use of many state-of-the-art systems, including:
 

Variable Speed Limit sign and Variable Message sign on Route 8, approaching Eagleˇ¦s Nest Tunnel.
 
 
  • Visual-based Vehicle Detector System ˇV collects traffic information at designated locations, such as vehicle speed, occupancy and count; stopped vehicles and wrong direction vehicles ;
  • ˇ§Dynamic Privacy Zoneˇ¨ CCTV Monitoring System ˇV remotely monitors road traffic conditions, and can preset blocked-off areas on the display monitor to prevent intrusion of privacy. The privacy zone is dynamic in size irrespective of the camera position and zooming ; and
  • Rule-based Traffic Control Computer System ˇV promptly generates traffic plans for execution to suit different traffic situations and weather conditions.
We shall continue to work with our customers to introduce new ideas in future highway projects, in order to make Hong Kong an international city with intelligent road networks.
