"E
& M Safety Quiz" - Reaching out to the community and
increasing our role in public education, we organised a safety quiz
in conjunction with RTHK, promoting a better understanding and awareness
of electrical and mechanical safety practices, among the public.
Covering electricity, gas, lift and escalator safety as well as
energy efficiency, the programme ended with the E&M Safety Carnival,
which took place on 4 November 2000.
LPG Filling Stations Open for Business - Earlier in the year,
we awarded two contracts for the construction and operation of five
dedicated LPG filling stations. All five stations opened for business
in October and November 2000, considerably improving facilities
for Hong Kong's LPG Taxi scheme. Here our Director Mr. Leung Cham-tim
(sixth from left) is seen at the opening of the Kwun Tong station,
the first of the stations to commence business.
New
Corporate Identity - Ensuring that we provide a clear and consistent
corporate image, we will be relaunching our corporate identity at
the end of the year. The new look builds on our existing logo, establishing
a unified approach in the use of our logo and design and visual
elements, such as typefaces and colour.
Customer Training and Seminars - The Municipal Sector Division
took a proactive role in keeping
ahead of new international developments. Representatives attended
Post-Expo 2000, the International Showcase for Postal Technology;
Lighting Dimensions International 2000 in the highly specialised
field of stage lighting; and also visited crematoriums in Europe.
Upon their return, knowledge gained was shared with colleagues and
customers through briefing sessions and seminars. A series of seminars
in the highly specialised area of cremator operations were held
for staff of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
EMSD
Annual Reception - Our annual reception took place at the Jockey
Club on 17 November this year. The occasion gave us an opportunity
to meet many of you in person and to thank you all for your help
and support during the year. At the event, Dr T L Ng, HKQAA Chairman,
presented the ISO 14001 corporate certificate to EMSD Director,
Mr Leung, making EMSD the first organisation in Hong Kong to receive
ISO 14001 corporate certification. Guest of honour, Mr Lee Shing-see,
Secretary for Works also addressed guests at the reception.
