The "E&M Safety Campaign 2014" is a collaborative effort between the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and various leading organizations of E&M trade associations in Hong Kong from the utilities, gas, public transport, public housing and recreation sectors. In order to enhance the community's awareness of safe and good practices in use of electricity, gas, lifts and escalators, railway transport and amusement rides, as well as increasing the community’s knowledge of energy saving, the Campaign this year will feature a series of activities including Interscholastic E&M safety quiz ,talent competition, poster design competition and an on-line quiz. These activities will take place during June 2014 to December 2014.
The E&M Safety Carnival, a highlight activity of the Campaign, will be a two-day outdoor carnival to be held on 6 and 7 December 2014 at Fa Hui Park, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon. The Carnival will feature educational game booths and a children's corner. Prizes will also be presented to the winners of those competitions.
