The E&M Safety Campaign 2008 (the Campaign) is a collaborative effort between the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and 18 leading organisations from the utilities, gas, public transport, public housing, recreation, and E&M trade associations in promoting the E&M and gas safety as well as energy efficiency in the community. Introduced in 2001, the annual Campaign has been established as one of the largest public education programmes of its kind in the territory.
In order to enhance the community's awareness of the safety and good practices in the use of electrical appliances and installations, gas appliances, lifts and escalators, railway transport and amusement rides, as well as increasing their knowledge of energy saving, we will launch a series of activities including (a) school drama, (b) drawing competition and (c) on-line quiz. These activities will be carried out throughout September to December of the year.
The E&M Safety Carnival, which is one of the core activities of the Campaign, will include a two-day outdoor carnival to be held on 15 and 16 November 2008 at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The carnival will include educational game booths, pop singers' performance, drama shows and a children's corner with bouncing castle and games. Besides, prizes will be presented to the winners of on-line quiz and drawing competition.
