When one success story meets
another, the result is synergy and new strength. This happened
when EMSD converted the HACTL2 Building into its new headquarters.
The unique size and space of the building presents enormous
potential for EMSD to do things not possible before. These
include mounting the largest photovoltaic installation in
Hong Kong on the rooftop to collect detailed data on renewable
energy, incorporating a variety of energy efficiency measures
into the building's design features, and setting up an E&M
safety and energy efficiency exhibition and education gallery
for students and the community.
The building, with its unique space and
configuration, is well suited as a showcase of energy efficiency
and conservancy best practices in Hong Kong and the home ground
from which EMSD can more effectively reach out to the community.
Not only is the new headquarters an ideal platform for EMSD's
current businesses and pioneering activities, it will also
witness many exciting new ventures of a sort that only time
and Hong Kong's future development will reveal.
The headquarters is a new beginning. It
has in its kernel the rich heritage of the Caroline Hill era,
from which will spring fresh shoots of new vigour in Kowloon
Bay. |
