InnoCarnival Showcases Joint Achievement with Clients

EMSTF participates in publicity events from time to time to inform the public about systems jointly developed with client departments. A good example was the InnoCarnival 2011 from November 5 to 13 at the Hong Kong Science Park.

The EMSTF booth focused on “Application of ICT for Mission Critical Operation” which showcased two sets of advanced information and communication systems, which were the TETRA System for Fire Services Department and the Central Command System jointly developed with Marine Police.

EMSTF professionals explain the operation of the TETRA system to visitors. Its portable handset can be used in an environment with explosive gas.

Carnival visitors had fun experiencing through hands-on trials of TETRA portable handsets, and learnt how the digitised system facilitates effective communications during mission critical operations. They were also impressed with the stability and sound quality of the system, as well as the detailed explanations of EMSTF’s onsite team.

The Central Command System comprises several specialised sub-systems such as digital radar, automatic identification system, automatic vessel location system, police radio communication system and round-the-clock all weather cameras. The booth showed visitors via a simulation display and system operational video how the whole system operates and how Marine Police can use the system to further enhance their effectiveness in anti-smuggling patrol within Hong Kong waters.
