Leading Energy Efficiency Drive with LEDs

Longer life and lower operating cost mean that Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are ideal replacements for far more energy-hungry lighting options.  EMSTF had an opportunity to demonstrate their benefits to in line with the HKSAR Government's commitment to achieving a five per cent energy saving in five years at all public venues when EMSTF took the initiative to replace existing high bay lights at the Government Logistics Centre with LED versions to save energy.

Until recently the building's storage facilities were illuminated with 400W Metal Halide (HID) high bay lights. In the summer months of 2011, they were replaced with 125W LED alternatives, which are not only much more energy-efficient but also mercury and UV-free.  The LED high bay lights consume 70 per cent less energy as compared with the original ones; what's more, unlike metal halide lights, LEDs focus their light better, do not require a warm-up period after being switched on, and do not generate excessive heat during operation.
