Scheme "A" Training
EMSD's Training Scheme is distinguished for its alignment with the Graduate Scheme "A" Training recognised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) for the following six disciplines. Engineering Graduates will be mentored by EMSD Directorates to support their professional and career development.

On-the-job Training
Engineering Graduates will receive on-the-job training across various divisions within the EMSD and other government departments. This immersive experience ensures that they will acquire professional knowledge in their respective disciplines, cultivating a comprehensive understanding of overseeing engineering projects and facilities in both government and the public sector.
Clear Career Ladder with Promising Future
Upon completion of the 2-year Scheme, Engineering Graduate will primarily progress to the position of Assistant Contract Engineer or Assistant Engineer. Assistant Engineer will be promoted to Engineer after acquiring a minimum of two years' experience and obtaining HKIE corporate membership or equivalent.

Entry Requirement
-
An engineering degree or related subject or a qualification (obtained in 2024 or after), which satisfies the academic requirements for corporate membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and for admission into the HKIE Training Scheme "A"; and
-
Be a permanent resident of the HKSAR at the time of engagement.
